A Foggy Morning

Yesterday morning should have been the textbook example of when to sleep in. Rain and low clouds. Not much fun to shoot. However, I woke up to a dense fog advisory and bolted out of bed to catch some photos before it disappeared. This wasn’t the most amazing day of fog (like this one from 2018 ) but it was perfect for a spot that I’ve always struggled to photograph.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial sits across the mall from The Wall. The statues of Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force soldiers walking out of the trees is a beautiful tribute to those who served during the Korean War and it has always eluded me when I’ve tried to photograph it. On this occasion, the fog was just enough to catch the light behind the soldiers and add to the etherial quality of the memorial. It also helped to block all the clutter that surrounds the memorial, helping to isolate you when you see the images.
