An Epic Sunrise Despite the Forecast

Sometimes we catch a morning around DC that is jaw-dropping. A sunrise that will stay with you for quite a long time. Mother Nature happens to place just the right clouds in just the right spot to light them up horizon to horizon.

Despite the forecast for sunrise dropping off overnight, I still headed down to the National Mall to see if anything would come together. It just so happened that the light started coming into the sky even earlier than normal, heralding what I hoped would be a beautiful sunrise.

As the sun crept towards the horizon, the low clouds caught every single glint of the morning light. The magentas, reds, and oranges overtook the light of blue hour and exploded into the sky.

As slowly as the light came, it faded quickly. as it disappeared, it left a beautiful pink glow that held for just a moment.
