Solar Eclipse Sunrise

There are lots of mornings where I question the 4:30 am wake up calls for a photo. This morning was definitely one of them. But the feeling after is when it all pays off. The Northeast experienced a rare sunrise solar eclipse this morning and boy was it gorgeous.

Initially my heart sank when I saw low clouds on the horizon. I immediately felt I might miss the amazing opportunity but it looked like the sunrise might be gorgeous either way.

I hopped in the car and headed off. I was anxious all the way up until the moment the sun started to break the horizon and I could see the shape. In the immortal words of Han Solo, “That’s no moon.” It was surreal seeing the sun take on the shape of the moon.
