Summer Sunrise

Summer isn’t my favorite time of year to catch sunrise. With the early start times, the swampy humidity that hangs around regardless of the hour, and the skies tend to be very clear and hazy.

This morning was a wonderful exception to the latter part of that statement. With clouds moving through the area, it screamed to take a chance on a relatively low-quality sunrise forecast.

For a good part of the morning, the sunrise didn’t seem like it would do anything. But a little persistence and patience paid off with a beautiful sky.

Some wildlife even made an appearance. A wonderful Heron took advantage of high tide to perch at the edge of the sidewalk around the tidal basin and fish.

With August recess in full swing, DC seems like a much different city at this time of year. Hopefully you’re getting away to travel soon or have already taken your summer trip!
