DC’s Other Grand Atrium

The rotunda in the US Capitol is among the most dramatic spaces in the District. One of my personal favorite runners up is the atrium at the National Building Museum, formerly known at the Pension Building prior to being the home for our national museum of our built environment. I visited to catch several recent exhibitions - Capital Brutalism and A South Forty. Both taking a look at unique architecture in different parts of the country.

A South Forty chronicles new architectural work in the American south, sharing work from many firms, including a collaboration between El Dorado and my alma mater, Kansas State University.

Both exhibits share unique perspectives and are worth the museum’s admission alone.
