Thanksgiving Sky

With a few days away from DC, I wanted to take the chance to get a sunrise at an iconic New Orleans locale. I was struggling a bit to find a location that would take advantage of the eastern light. On Thanksgiving morning the broken clouds gave me an opportunity to catch the iconic St. Louis Cathedral with beautiful morning light.

As the sun rose just below the horizon, it caught the clouds with a beautiful pink light throughout the sky. The beautiful lines and shapes of the light and clouds played a nearly perfect balance with the symmetrical view of the cathedral and Jackson Square. The holiday ribbons beautifully brought the warm colors down into the foreground a perfectly complete the scene.
