Washington Gothic

Sometimes the fog comes in where you least expect. Dropping out of the clouds on one of Washington’s high points, the morning shrouded National Cathedral in a beautiful mist.

The Neo-Gothic cathedral dominates its surroundings and casts a glow into the surrounding sky. Reaching up and disappearing into the mist, the main spire of the cathedral still bears the scars of the 2011 earthquake that shook the district.

These mornings remind me why being out in the fog is so enchanting to me. It brings the world closer to you. It takes the monumental scale of Washington’s great buildings and shrouds them in mystery with the glow of city lights.
