The Amalfi Coast
If you follow me on social media, you know that I recently got married. We took off for Italy immediately after the wedding and made our first stop was a small town on the Amalfi Coast. The small town of Cetara was a beautiful place to unwind and explore after the wedding.
Far quieter and less touristed than the western end of this storied coastline, the cruise ships skip this small town. Littered with Michelin-listed restaurants, it's the perfect place to experience everything Amalfi has to offer, most notably Limoncello, Colatura di Alici, and Anchovies. The products of heat and the bountiful ocean make for amazing dining.
Sunrise over Cetara is simply divine. Standing on the edge of the narrow two-lane road that runs along the entire coastline, the cove and town open up below you. As night gives way to morning, life begins to appear. Trucks and busses wind their way along the road and the ferries begin to move between the towns.
The Torre di Cetara is the most imposing structure, seated between the road and the sea. The 1867 structure stands as a sentinel overlooking the bay on the way from Salerno to Amalfi. As the sun washes the hillsides, the hotels and beach clubs come to life, people winding their way down to the sea.
The white building below was our hotel. It is perched immediately between the highway and the sea, it was the perfect place to spend our first few days in Italy
